However, the Hazelwood Police Department shared via a social media post earlier today, an abrupt change in the narrative - the previously announced checkpoint was canceled.
Notwithstanding the cancellation, the spirit of law enforcement's commitment to public safety remains unaltered. As stated in the update, "*CHECKPOINT CANCELED* however, our DWI Unit will still be out tonight!" This means, that residents should expect an increased presence of officers on the lookout for drivers under the influence, as per the Hazelwood Police Department.
The Department continues to emphasize the hazards that come with driving while impaired. "Driving under the influence puts everyone at risk, including yourself, your passengers, and other road users," the Hazelwood Police Department stated in their earlier announcement.
