The Holyoke Fire Department is calling on residents to assist in their investigation into a fire that engulfed a multifamily home on Pine Street early yesterday morning. In a collective effort with the Holyoke Police Department and State Police Fire Investigation Unit, officials urge anyone with relevant information to step forward, as reported by Mass.gov.

Investigators are keen to obtain details from the public that may lead to a better understanding of the incident's circumstances, specifically any individuals or vehicles that were in the vicinity of Pine Street between 2:30 am and 6:00 am. The arson investigation has a monetary incentive attached, offering up to $5,000 for information that could resolve, detect, or deter potential arson through the Arson Watch Reward Program.

The Holyoke Fire Department was called to the scene at 268 Pine Street shortly after 6:00 am, where they found the rear of the building was fiercely ablaze. Despite the difficult conditions, including a badly damaged rear stairwell that hindered access to the second floor, firefighters worked resiliently to search the building and ensure all residents were accounted for. The intensity of the situation was exacerbated by strong winds that facilitated the spread of flames through the structure.

In the wake of the fire, one firefighter sustained injuries, though thankfully they were non-life-threatening. Collaborative efforts from various departments, including Westfield and Chicopee fire services, as well as support from Holyoke Gas & Electric, Holyoke DPW, the Department of Fire Services, and Cataldo Ambulance, were crucial in controlling the fire and preventing further damage to neighboring properties.
