In a joint effort, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office (JPSO), the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office have come together, sharing resources and technology in the wake of the accident.
According to a social media post by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, challenging weather from the Lake Pontchartrain hindered the search, but the LASER Division of JPSO, with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Marine Unit in tow, was actively engaged in utilizing specialized sonar exploration and imagery to identify objects beneath the water's surface.
A statement from NOPD’s Communications Director reveals that "several objects were identified and subsequently examined by the NOPD Dive Team," confirming that the dive team believes these objects to be debris related to the missing aircraft. Search efforts are being continually executed despite the difficulties imposed by the local climate, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office post.
