A 23-year-old woman was found dead on I-95 North in Port St. Lucie, prompting a temporary closure of the highway near mile marker 118, just north of Gatlin Boulevard. According to CBS12, the Florida Highway Patrol shut down all lanes and the on-ramp following the discovery but reopened them later that morning.
WPBF reported that Port St. Lucie police are investigating the possibility that the woman may have jumped from a moving vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene, where both the Florida Highway Patrol and Port St. Lucie police responded.
Authorities stated that her death was not traffic-related and that there were no signs of foul play. The Port St. Lucie Police Department has taken over the investigation and is awaiting autopsy and toxicology results to determine the cause of death.
