The Jefferson Community Action Programs (JeffCAP) held a Friendsgiving luncheon in Jefferson Parish to honor Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteers from the Woodmere and Harvey Community Centers. Volunteers were recognized for their work crocheting items for those in need.

The RSVP volunteers have truly understood the essence of service, spending hours transforming yarn into comfort for cancer patients, nursing home residents, and preemie babies. At the Friendsgiving event, their altruism was celebrated, with each volunteer receiving a Certificate of Appreciation. The certificate stood as a simple yet profound acknowledgement of the time and care steeped into every stitch of their crocheted Christmas trees, afghans, baby hats, and booties. In the words of Jefferson Parish's social media post, the volunteers also "enjoyed a holiday feast with home cooked gumbo, seafood dressing, turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, macaroni and potato salad."
