The flight, which was traveling from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles last Wednesday, encountered the pressurization issue over Arizona, prompting a rapid but controlled descent by the crew to a safer altitude until safe landing at LAX. The incident left passengers shaken, with videos showing the distress on the flight and flight attendants directing the passengers to put on their masks for safety.
"I was very, very scared," passenger Maranda Wyatt told Local 10 News, recounting the event where, children cried, and palpable fear spread through the cabin. Dominic Narvaez, another passenger, also expressed his discomfort to Local 10 News, "You could feel the pressure in your head when they were yelling at us to put our masks on," showing the level of urgency felt during the descent. Despite the distress, the plane landed safely to the sound of applause from relieved passengers.
Subsequent to the landing, JetBlue issued apologies and flight credits to the affected passengers but many report that they have yet to receive a full explanation of what occurred.
