In a concerted effort to combat the drug trade, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, backed by multiple law enforcement agencies, executed a series of arrests across the county. The crackdown took place yesterday, resulting in warrants being issued for 32 individuals on drug-related charges. The operation saw collaboration from the Franklin Police Department, Bargersville Police Department, Edinburgh Police Department, New Whiteland Police Department, and Marion County Sheriff's Office, as reported by WTHR.
Diligent work from local authorities has culminated in the apprehension of 26 suspects in total, according to WISH-TV. Although specific details regarding the quantity of drugs seized were not disclosed, half of the arrested individuals hailed from Johnson County itself, the rest predominantly from Marion County with ages ranging between 20 and 68 years old. Johnson County Prosecutor's Office issued a stark warning to drug dealers, saying they "aren't welcome in Johnson County."
The intelligence-driven sweep was made possible by tips from community members and thorough investigations by narcotics teams and intelligence units. Sheriff Burgess emphasized the complex nature of such operations, stating, "It's a lot of work. We may have somebody that's given us information. We may have gotten information off of the tip line or somebody else that has come forward to give us that information, that our narcotics people, our intelligence unit, starts working on that, and we're able to set up maybe meet and greets. We usually do three or four drug transactions, and we just put good cases together," in a statement to WRTV.
