El Paso Community College (EPCC) has ushered in a new era with the appointment of Mr. Josh Fernandez as the Executive Director of its Physical Plant Department. According to EPCC News, the college is looking ahead to a busy fiscal year with over 61 new projects on the horizon. Vice President of Finance and Administration Fernando Flores expressed his confidence in Fernandez's capability to steer this critical operational helm, citing the importance of his role in the campus's expansive and essential infrastructure.
Fernandez, before taking the reins at EPCC, was honing his expertise in facilities management and construction at Arizona State University, first as a Construction Inspector, then as Senior Director of Facilities and Construction. He arrives back in the borderland, moving with his wife, Liz, and their young son, to a familiar yet different climate, as Flores observed, Fernandez humorously noted having to adjust to the humidity of El Paso, a comment that Flores recalled with a chuckle in an interview.
The journey of Fernandez in academia and his professional career has been steeped in relevant experience. After obtaining his Associate degree of Applied Science in Architectural Technology from New Mexico State University, he furthered his education with a bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Northern Arizona University. His substantial background is expected to play a pivotal role in the success of the college's upcoming projects and overall mission. "I am very excited to join the EPCC family and am thrilled to be part of such a wonderful community," Fernandez said, as per EPCC News.
