A fatal collision occurred this morning on the entrance ramp to I-40 East from Hall of Fame Drive, according to the Knoxville Police Department. The crash involved a single vehicle and a parked tractor-trailer and happened at approximately 6:30 a.m.
According to a social media post by the Knoxville Police Department, officers found that the vehicle had collided with a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder. The impact resulted in the death of the female driver, the sole occupant of the car. Her identity has not been released as authorities work to notify her family. No other injuries have been reported.
The Knoxville Police Department has not released the victim’s name, citing the need for positive identification and the process of notifying her next of kin. KPD crash reconstruction investigators are leading the investigation.
