This social initiative urges the community to take preventative measures every evening at 9:00 to safeguard their property from potential thieves. The Sheriff's Office delineated a list of steps on social media, emphasizing the simple actions that can be taken to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
The recommended actions include bringing in bags and wallets from vehicles, locking vehicle doors even if they're in the driveway, and securing homes through locking doors and windows, and setting alarms. Residents are also advised to bring inside any delivered mail or packages and close all garage doors. The suggestion to secure outdoor items such as bicycles and toys, along with the advice to turn on exterior lights, aims at creating an environment less welcoming to unwarranted intruders.
"These quick steps can help prevent crime and keep your family safe," the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office stated on its Facebook page. The initiative is not just about self-protection but also about fostering a community-wide vigilance.
