Las Cruces citizens have cast their ballots for new city council members and a municipal judge, with the unofficial results indicating clear winners in most races. According to the City of Las Cruces, the municipal elections took place on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

In the City Council District 3 race, Michael James Harris clinched victory with 1,096 votes or 55 percent, compared to Isaiah Paul Tellez, who garnered 893 votes (45 percent). The site notes, however, that write-in ballots are still being tallied, and if any changes occur, they may be minor given that the write-in candidate, Paul Kevin Paar, has so far received no votes. The District 5 seat saw Becky Ann Corran winning decisively with 1,987 votes (63 percent), edging out Ronnie M Sisneros, who received 1,174 votes (37 percent).

Meanwhile, in District 6, the election leaned heavily towards a ranked-choice voting system, which ultimately saw John P Munoz emerge as victor with 2,198 votes (62.5 percent) after three rounds. Richard Reynaud settled for the second spot with 1,319 votes (37.5 percent). As for the Municipal Judge seat, it was a clean sweep for James Prentice DeRossitt IV, who secured all 11,362 votes to claim a 100 percent victory in the uncontested race.

The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners is tasked with certifying the election results within ten days of the election, followed by the State of New Mexico's certification by the end of November. Incoming municipal officials have their formal induction scheduled, as they will take the Oath of Office on Monday, Dec. 15, and their four-year terms officially commence on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
