A tragic incident unfolded in the city of Loganville when 62-year-old Kimberly Whaley was shot in the head outside a CVS store. According to reports by FOX 5 Atlanta, the shooting occurred before 4 p.m. last Friday. Following the attack, Whaley was airlifted to the hospital but, unfortunately succumbed to her injuries yesterday.
The incident, which took place in the parking lot located at the intersection of Highway 78 and Conyers Road, has sparked a response from city leaders who have labeled it as a "serious incident." Whaley, a resident of Loganville, had been in critical condition before her passing, the result of a gunshot wound that was inflicted in broad daylight. Despite the prompt action of a bicycle patrol officer and other Lawrenceville police officers, who spotted and apprehended a person of interest by strategically cornering the SUV he was driving, the motive behind the violence remains unclear. It is important to note, a person of interest is currently in custody after a vehicle matching the be-on-the-lookout (BOLO) description was identified in downtown Lawrenceville.
Given the ongoing investigation, the authorities have yet to disclose details about the detained individual or speculate publicly on what might have led to the shooting. As reported by Atlanta News First, charges have not been announced against the person who was taken into custody.
