Following a detailed two-month investigation into cocaine distribution within Chelsea, the Chelsea Police Department apprehended a Lynn woman, culminating in an arrest that occurred during a routine traffic stop. As detailed in a social media post by the department, Yessenia Bonilla, 43, was found to be in possession of a significant amount of illegal substances and money, which led to felony charges and her subsequent arraignment in Chelsea District Court.
The operation, having slowly to unravel the network of distribution, led to the execution of a search warrant, obtained from Chelsea District Court, on Bonilla's person. The discovery made during the stop in Chelsea included "45 grams of powder cocaine" and "$1,500 of US Currency in various denominations," as stated by the Chelsea Police Department via social media. These findings resulted in Bonilla facing serious charges of trafficking cocaine, specifically "Trafficking in Cocaine, 36 Grams or more."
"This investigation shows that the Chelsea Police is dedicated to eradicating all narcotics violators, whether they reside in Chelsea or live outside and bring harmful and addictive drugs to the neighborhoods of Chelsea from elsewhere," Houghton said. "We will continue to pursue all violators and hold them accountable."
They reassured that "your assistance plays a vital role in keeping our community safe." It is imperative to remember that despite the charges, all accused parties are "presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
