The streets of East Oakland were the scene of a major drug and firearm bust, heralding yet another round in the continual struggle between law enforcement and black-market dealers. According to a social media post by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, the Alameda County Narcotics Task Force (ACNTF) cracked down on a repeat offender, seizing a sizable stash of drugs, weapons, and cash.
Acting on multiple complaints, the ACNTF homed in on one William Mustain, a convicted felon who was allegedly distributing narcotics from the confines of his vehicle. Despite being caught in the legal system's snare twice already this year, Mustain was out on bail when detectives zeroed in. The investigators didn't dawdle; with search warrants firmly in hand, they made a move on Mustain, only to see the suspect attempt to shed a grocery bag full of narcotics before being detained.
The following discovery from the executed search warrants reads like a shopping list for an underground empire: around 12 kilograms of heroin, 2 kilograms of cocaine, 1 kilogram of methamphetamine, tailed by an arsenal including six handguns and two rifles, all accompanied by $474,000 in cold, hard cash. Mustain, following this encounter with the law, found himself off the streets and behind the bars of the Santa Rita Jail, likely contemplating the cycle of arrest and release that had been his recent routine.
