A violent incident broke out at Rincon Catracho Restaurant in Memphis, leading to attempted murder charges. In the early hours of Thursday, Memphis Police were summoned to the scene following a stabbing report. As detailed by Action News 5, a man was found with a neck wound and in critical condition at the Gentral Memphis restaurant. Fernando Jose Delgado Hernandez admitted to the officers that he was the assailant.
The surveillance video reviewed by police revealed a chilling scene, capturing Delgado Hernandez approaching the seated victim from behind, before committing the violent act. According to the same surveillance footage, which FOX 8 described, the victim was sitting with a woman when his throat was slit by Delgado Hernandez. The restaurant, nestled near the Nutbush area, became an unlikely crime scene, leaving diners in shock.
Police officials arrested Delgado Hernandez, 23, charging him with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault. The response from law enforcement was prompt, ensuring the suspect didn't flee the scene. Delgado Hernandez's confession at the site bolstered the evidence collected by investigators.
While the motive remains unclarified, WREG reports that a woman who was sitting with the victim at the time of the incident identified Delgado Hernandez as the attacker. Despite his immediate admission of guilt, saying "I did it," to the authorities, no further details on what precipitated the attack were reported by police. Delgado Hernandez is scheduled for a court appearance on Monday, where more specifics of the case are expected to emerge.
The victim's condition has not been updated since he was taken to the hospital. This act of violence disrupts not only the lives entwined in the incident but also sows fear into the community context, where the safety of a neighborhood restaurant is now marred by the spectre of a sudden and brutal assault.
