A fatal stabbing occurred this morning in South Central El Paso, leading to one man's death and a police manhunt for the suspect. The incident unfolded at the DK convenience store on the 5600 block of Alameda Avenue, as reported by KTSM. Just before 10 a.m., El Paso Police responded to a call and discovered a man in his 40s who had sustained stab wounds during an altercation. First responders rushed him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to KVIA, the conflict started inside the convenience store, but it remains uncertain what provoked the dispute. The suspect, described by police as a Hispanic man, fled the scene after the incident and has not been apprehended. The name of the victim has not been released to the public as investigations continue.
In the effort to gather clues, El Paso Police's Crimes Against Persons Unit is asking for any information that can help in resolving this case. Judy Oviedo, an EPPD spokeswoman, informed KTSM that "the vehicles will remain there because they were there when the alleged crime occurred," speaking of two vehicles located near the gas pumps that have since been examined by investigators.
Members of the community with any information about the altercation or the suspect involved in this grave incident are encouraged to contact EPPD at 915-832-4400 or to reach out to Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477, as detailed by KFOX. The tragic episode has not only left a man dead but has also shaken the local community as police endeavor to trace the attacker still at large.
