The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced new updates to its Grant Central platform. The improvements include two new grant programs and the launch of a Fully Integrated Application (FIA) system that streamlines funding applications across all MassDOT Highway Division competitive grant programs. Municipalities can now apply for up to $1 million in construction funding and up to $150,000 in design support, according to Mass.Gov.
The new programs include the Community Culverts Program, which focuses on modernizing infrastructure to improve resilience and biodiversity, and the Unpaved Roads Program, which supports maintenance and improvements of dirt and gravel roads across the state.
The FIA system simplifies the grant process by matching applicants to suitable funding opportunities based on project details, reducing the need for multiple applications and deadlines. Applications for fiscal year 2026 will be accepted from today through January 9, 2026.
Grant Central now also features a public grant award tracker to improve transparency. The platform consolidates information for all eight municipal grant programs administered by MassDOT and provides contact details for further assistance. These enhancements are designed to make accessing infrastructure funding more efficient and organized for Massachusetts communities.
