Officers and personnel are participating in "No Shave November," a fundraising initiative where they ditch the razors to garner donations for cancer care and research. The Asante Foundation for Cancer Care, a local organization devoted to the pivotal work of cancer treatment and scientific advancement, is the beneficiary of this bristly challenge. MPD is also extending an invitation to community members to sponsor Patrol Team #2 or join in the growth journey themselves.
In an endeavor to rally support, MPD has proposed a suggested donation of $25. Although growing a beard might seem a simple act, with the community’s financial backing, it can translate into meaningful support for individuals grappling with cancer. Donations are accepted via cash or checks made out to the "Medford Police Association", as highlighted on Medford's official website, with "No Shave November" penned in the memo line.
Monetary contributions can find their way to those in need through drop-off or mail to the Records Division at Medford Police Headquarters. By the month’s end, all funds accumulated through the officers’ whiskers and communal support will flow to the Asante Foundation for the ongoing fight against cancer. It's a commitment seen through last year, where a substantial sum of $2,000 bolstered the Heimann Cancer Center’s resources.
Not just a momentary campaign, the Medford Police Association (MPA) behind the initiative is a public benefit nonprofit corporation.
