As Memphis residents gear up for the Thanksgiving holiday, the City of Memphis has rolled out its schedule for government office closures and solid waste collection delays. According to an announcement made earlier today, all government offices in the City of Memphis will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, for Thanksgiving observance, as reported on the city's official website.
The City of Memphis Solid Waste Management division has indicated, there will be no garbage collection on these dates. Residents who normally have their waste picked up on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are instructed to place their carts at the curb on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Meanwhile, those with Thursday and Friday pickup schedules should do so on Wednesday, Nov. 26, accommodating the shift in service due to the holiday. There will be restricted collections of excess trash and yard waste throughout the holiday week.
Adjustments are not just for those served by the city. Team Waste customers will also experience changes in their service schedule. The service for Thursday customers will shift to Friday, Nov. 28, and for Friday customers, collection will move to Saturday, Nov. 29. All residents, regardless of their service provider, are reminded to have their carts on the curb by 7 a.m. on their designated collection days to ensure pickup.
The Thanksgiving schedule alterations are a yearly occurrence, and city officials hope that by announcing the changes ahead of time, residents can plan accordingly and avoid any inconveniences. As always, the community is encouraged to visit the City of Memphis's website for additional updates and for clarity on their waste collection schedules during holidays and other city-wide events.
