Kenneth Newton, a Memphis native with more than 30 years in the Memphis Fire Department, has been appointed Assistant Fire Chief of Operations. His career began as an EMT in 1991 and progressed through roles such as paramedic, Fire Inspector, Fire Lieutenant, Battalion Chief, and Division Chief, as reported by the Memphis Fire Department.
He is recognized for expanding professional development initiatives and introducing advanced training tools within the department. Newton also played a crucial role in the city's COVID-19 response by helping lead vaccine distribution through the COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force, as stated by the Memphis Fire Department.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Organizational Development from Bethel University. According to the Memphis Fire Department on their Facebook page, Newton is recognized for his leadership and mentorship, and the department states that he will help guide the organization toward continued growth and innovation.
