The Memphis Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in the January slaying at Supreme and Airways. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Martinez Thompson, is facing charges that include Second-Degree Murder, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. According to the information provided by the Memphis Police Department, Thompson was apprehended by the Raines Station Task Force on November 12.
Thompson's capture signifies a continued effort by the MPD to pursue and hold violent offenders responsible for their actions. The charges against him arise from an incident that left one individual dead earlier this year, an event that has since been under thorough investigation by the local authorities. The MPD's announcement also highlighted their commitment to a "#StrongerSaferMemphis."
Further details on the case against Thompson have not been made public as of now. The announcement from MPD, however, assures the community that law enforcement is actively engaged in crime-prevention and justice. Thompson is currently in custody, and additional information is expected to come to light as legal proceedings unfold.
