Mesa has been named one of the top ten digital cities for populations over 500,000 by the Center for Digital Government's 2025 Digital Cities Survey Awards. City Manager Scott Butler said, "Mesa's top ten ranking reflects our commitment to modernizing city services and grounding our decisions in clear, reliable data," noting the city's use of technology and data to improve services and community engagement, according to the City of Mesa.
The City of Mesa has focused on expanding economic opportunities and digital access through programs like Mesa Business Builder and the City's Studios facility, which support small businesses and entrepreneurship. Mesa is also working to provide affordable, high-speed internet access citywide, treating connectivity as a key infrastructure priority.
Mesa was recognized by the Center for Digital Government for managing public resources, modernizing key systems, and making technology investments that improve efficiency and provide value to taxpayers. The city’s focus on attracting and keeping a digitally skilled workforce supports its work in technology. Teri Takai, Chief Programs Officer at the Center for Digital Government, said, "What stands out this year isn't just the technology-it's the impact on constituent services," noting that cities are using technology in areas like housing, public safety, and community trust, as reported by the City of Mesa.
