The newly minted Miami-Dade 250: We Are America Celebration Advisory Committee is set to map out a comprehensive lineup of events, educational initiatives, and public activations that echo the county's dedication to unity and cultural richness, as stated on the county's website.
Reflecting on the essence of the upcoming anniversary Mayor Levine Cava stated, "In 2026, our nation will mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and Miami-Dade is proud to join communities across the country in celebrating this historic milestone," hinting Miami-Dade's distinct narrative shaped by resilience and innovation that will be the heartbeat of these celebrations, according to the official press release.
Residents and visitors can anticipate engaging in a once-in-a-lifetime experience, thanks to the Advisory Committee's mission to cultivate a series of memorable events and legacy projects while coordinating with a wide net of state and federal partners, cultural heavyweights, and local communities. The committee, heralded for its diversity, draws its members from various county pillars including the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Miami-Dade School Board committed, to fostering a countywide spirit of historical contemplation and cultural celebration.
The We Are America Celebration Advisory Committee plans to hold its first meeting in January 2026. Its goal is to highlight Miami-Dade’s special role in America and make sure the county’s events align with the national celebrations led by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission.
