Residents of Hialeah, Miami, and Miami Beach are gearing up to make their voices heard in local elections set for Dec. 9. On the ballot in Hialeah are seats for Councilmember Groups III and IV, while Miami voters will choose their next mayor and Commission District 3 representative. Miami Beach will see its Commission Group 1 contest. All voters considering participation should mark a couple of key dates on their calendars: the voter registration deadline is November 10, and the deadline for requesting a Vote-by-Mail ballot is November 27 at 5 p.m.
To be eligible to quickly cast a ballot this December, individuals must register by November 10—this is the absolute last day allowed. You can register or adjust your details online at votemiamidade.gov or in person. For those preferring to avoid the Election Day crowds or simply to conveniently vote on their own schedule, early voting will be open from December 5 to December 7, with locations detailed on the county’s official voting website.
If you're planning to vote by mail, don’t forget to submit your request promptly by November 27 to ensure you receive your ballot in time. "I can’t stress enough how important our municipal elections are and how critical voter participation is. These are to elect our leaders in the governments closest to the people that affect our daily lives," the Honorable Alina Garcia, Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections, emphasized in Miami-Dade County statement shared with the public.
When the election rolls around on December 9, make sure to head to your designated precinct to vote between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Not sure where to go? The information is listed on your Voter Registration Card, but if you need a refresh or lose the card, you can always get upto date guidance at votemiamidade.gov or by calling (305) 499-VOTE (8683). It's here you can also peek at sample ballots and confirm your voter registration status.
