
Gas prices in Michigan have risen 9 cents since last week, bringing the state average for regular unleaded to $3.11 per gallon. This is also 9 cents higher than the same time last year, according to CBS News Detroit.
In Detroit, the average gas price is $3.06 per gallon, up 3 cents from last week, based on a GasBuddy survey of 1,734 stations, as reported by The Detroit News. The national average is $3.03 per gallon. Lansing, Jackson, and Ann Arbor have the highest prices in the state, while Marquette, Traverse City, and Benton Harbor have the lowest, and "Many drivers across Michigan are seeing higher prices at the pump heading into Thanksgiving," as per WZZM13.
AAA expects 2.6 million Michiganders to travel at least 50 miles during Thanksgiving week. GasBuddy says prices may ease as refinery maintenance ends. Patrick De Haan said, "While Washington and Oregon may still see issues related to the Olympic pipeline shutdown, the broader outlook is promising— especially with oil prices dipping below $60 per barrel." AAA is bringing back the "Tow to Go" program to help prevent impaired driving during the holiday, as mentioned by The Detroit News.
