Mid-Missouri drivers should anticipate road closures and maintenance activities during the week of November 10–16, as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) conducts construction and improvement projects across multiple counties. MoDOT notes that these projects are weather-dependent and may result in travel delays.
Boone County will undergo several road improvement projects, including culvert replacements on Route E and bridge work on U.S. Route 63 over I-70. The bridge will be closed overnight on November 10 and November 12 for joint repairs, and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes. Additional projects include upgrades to pedestrian facilities in Columbia and Sturgeon, which may limit walkway access and reduce some roads to one lane with flagger control. The intersection of Route K and Old Plank Road will be fully closed for conversion into a roundabout.
Similar work is planned across the Mid-Missouri region. In Callaway County, pavement repairs and culvert replacements on South Outer Road 70 and Missouri Route 94 may require temporary single-lane traffic. The Improve I-70 Program continues, with construction from Route M to Kingdom City expected to run through 2027, resulting in intermittent lane closures.
U.S. Route 50 in Cole County is undergoing pedestrian facility upgrades, which may temporarily close right-turn lanes. Restrictions will also be in place on U.S. Route 54 near Jefferson City during bridge rehabilitation, with traffic operating in a head-to-head configuration. Access from eastbound U.S. Route 54 to Route CC and certain other connections will be closed. MoDOT advises motorists to exercise caution and be alert for slow-moving equipment in work zones.
Closure alerts and construction projects also affect other areas, including culvert replacements in Crawford County and pavement widening on U.S. Route 54 in Camden County. Most projects will take multiple days and use flaggers to direct traffic through single-lane openings. Additional updates include the closure of North Outer Road 70 at Little Cedar Creek and roundabout construction at key intersections in Moniteau County as part of ongoing road infrastructure improvements.
MoDOT emphasizes driver safety near construction sites, advising motorists to buckle up, avoid using phones, obey traffic signs, and slow down or move over in work zones. A full list of affected areas, project details, and expected timelines is available on MoDOT’s website for those seeking more information or planning travel routes.
