A Miramar man faces animal cruelty charges following the alleged killing of his mother's Chihuahua mix, local authorities confirm. U-One Forever Smith, aged 23, was arrested last night after the Miramar Police Department responded to a distress call in the 7600 block of Miramar Parkway. A report by WSVN detailed that the arriving officers discovered the pet named Lucy, sadly deceased, with wounds suggesting a violent attack.
The incident was initially brought to the attention of law enforcement by Smith's mother, who reportedly witnessed her son harm the family dog and also threaten her. Amid the confrontation, she dialed 911 to seek immediate help. The dog's death seemed to be caused by puncture wounds around its neck, as the responding officers noted at the scene. Smith was quickly taken into custody and now has been booked into the Broward County Jail without the possibility to post bail just yet, as indicated by Broward's mugshots.
Authorities said Smith was charged with animal cruelty resulting in death. The incident has been deeply traumatic for Smith’s mother, who witnessed the event involving her son. Officials have not released details about Smith’s legal representation or his response to the charge. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to ensure a full review of the case and that justice is served.
