The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is currently probing an officer-involved shooting incident, which occurred on Monday night in Olive Branch, involving a deputy from the Desoto County Sheriff’s Office. Action News 5 detailed that deputies were called to a residence on Miller Farms Road at about 8:15 p.m. due to a domestic disturbance.
Upon their arrival, a subject allegedly aimed a firearm at the officers, provoking the deputies to discharge their weapons and strike the suspect. The Department of Public Safety spokesperson Bailey Martin noted in a statement that following the shooting, a standoff occurred, eventually ending without further complications and with the suspect surrendering, Fox13 Memphis reports.
The person who was shot sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and no deputies were hurt during the incident, according to the information provided. MBI is gathering evidence and will forward their findings to the Attorney General's office once the assessment is complete, as per Local Memphis.
