In a recent announcement, the Local Program representatives of Missouri have made a call for consulting firms to offer on-call professional services, a move set to streamline commissions for various local projects throughout the region. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation's website, this initiative is exclusive to Missouri's Local Program and is distinguished from the existing MoDOT on-call services.
The program's officials are looking to compile a roster of prequalified consultants that local agencies can select from for projects that align with the outlined categories, each with an expenditure cap of $200,000. Widening the pool for specialized expertise, these services include those laid out in Section 136.4.2.12 of the MoDOT’s LPA manual, which details the scope and limitation of such consultancies, and by which local programs aiming to harness these services must abide, creating a framework for structured and efficient project engagements.
As recounted on MoDOT's webpage, the necessity for these services stems from the desire to bolster the local programs' capabilities by providing access to professional consultancy on an as-needed basis, this strategy potentially enables smaller localities to leverage resources that historically would be out of reach due to contractual or financial constraints.
