For those of you planning to navigate the intersection at Route CC and US 67, heads up: things are changing. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced plans to close the junction starting at 1:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, a necessary move for road demolition and reconstruction work. This update, sourced from MoDOT's official release, indicates that the closure is expected to extend through the end of December.
The immediate impact for local drivers will be significant, no access will be available to and from Route CC at this US 67 intersection and this disruption is part of a broader initiative to revamp traffic flow, after the closure ends multi-directional travel won't be an instant option; US 67 traffic will be restricted to right turns onto Route CC, and vice versa. Come early January, MoDOT will roll out the next phase that involves the removal and lowering of US 67 itself.
Detour options are clearly laid out for those affected. For drivers positioned north of US 67, the recommended route involves taking Gamel Cemetery Road and Pounds Road to reach Veterans Blvd./Route A, subsequently connecting to Interstate 55 to circle back to US 67. Drivers on the south side are advised to use Route CC, leading them to US 67 via the MO 110/US 67 interchange. Moreover, MoDOT ensured all alternate paths will be clearly marked with detour signs for easier navigation.
