The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is currently opening the floor to public opinion on the upcoming replacement of the Dent County Route B bridge over Dry Creek. According to an announcement on their website, the existing bridge, constructed in 1939, is exhibiting signs of substantial wear after decades of service and is due for a replacement slated for 2026.
Community members are encouraged to voice their thoughts during the comment period, spanning from Nov. 13 through Dec. 4, 2025. MoDOT highlights the value of public feedback, which they consider crucial in shaping both design and construction phases of the project. An informative session will take place on Nov. 20, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Salem Public Library, where the project team will be present to field questions and receive community input. In the announcement, MoDOT explained, "There will be no formal presentation, so attendees may come and go as they please at any time during the advertised hours."
For individuals unable to attend in person, MoDOT offers several alternative methods for submitting feedback. Responses can be made directly on the project's webpage or by emailing [email protected] with the relevant subject line by no later than Dec. 4, 2025. Traditional mail options are also available, and MoDOT requests that correspondence be sent to their Jefferson City office with a clear reference to the Route B bridge initiative.
As MoDOT gears up for construction, a fresh plea is issued to motorists: adhere to safety protocols like buckling up, refraining from using phones while driving, and following all posted traffic signs. The department emphasizes the importance of extra caution in work zones, advising drivers to slow down and move over in work zones.
