The Morgan County Sheriff's Office has called off a Silver Alert for Theodore Morgan, an 84-year-old man who was reported missing from Morgan County. The alert, which had been disseminated statewide, was rescinded this morning, as reported by WTHR. Details on the circumstances leading to the cancellation were not immediately provided, but inquiries were directed to the MCSO through their contact number, 765-342-5544.
Before the alert was canceled, authorities had been searching for Morgan, described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, with grey hair and brown eyes. Last seen yesterday around 1 p.m. in Mooresville, nearly 19 miles southwest of Indianapolis, he had been wearing a blue jacket and blue pants. Driving a black 2014 Ford Escape with an Indiana license plate, the missing man sparked statewide concern, with information disclosed by WHAS11.
Silver Alerts, such as the one issued for Morgan, target the search for missing and endangered adults or children, with children having been included in the criteria more commonly since last year. A comparison is drawn with Amber Alerts, which are specifically for children under 18 who are considered abducted and in imminent danger. As per the police announcement protocols, these alerts signify that someone is at risk and necessitate swift public communication and action.
The Indiana State Police, who also responded to Morgan's disappearance, expressed belief that he may be in extreme danger and in need of medical assistance, detailing their concerns in a press statement. Describing Morgan as a man with gray hair and brown eyes, they cast a net wide for information on his whereabouts, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. Interested parties were encouraged to contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office or to simply call 911 with any pertinent information, as highlighted by FOX59. No additional details about Morgan's disappearance have since been released following the cancellation of the Silver Alert.
