The Metro Council of Nashville is marking one year of social media outreach this month with the launch of a new Bluesky account. The platform is intended to provide residents with additional ways to stay informed about Council actions and initiatives. Vice Mayor Angie E. Henderson described the expansion as a step toward more transparent and accessible local government, stating, "These communication tools are helping us meet residents where they are," according to Metro Nashville & Davidson County.
The Council first began using social media in 2024 to strengthen communication with Nashville residents. The addition of a Bluesky account continues this effort to provide clear and accessible updates. The Council’s website has also been updated, allowing residents to more easily access information about their local representatives and districts on a single page, improving on the previous layout that required navigating multiple sections.
According to the county's release, the redesigned site is more streamlined and user-friendly, aimed at helping residents more easily find information and contact their Council Members. Updated features on individual Council Member pages include biographical information, calendars of community meetings, district maps, and relevant demographic data.
Residents are encouraged to explore the redesigned Metro Council website and its new features. The Metro Council Office also maintains a presence on social media platforms including Bluesky (@NashvilleMCO), X/Twitter (@NashvilleMCO), Instagram (@NashMCO), and Facebook.
