The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is investigating a fatal shooting at Parc of Metro Center Apartments, following what appears to be a deliberate ambush on 26-year-old Jackailus Groves. Early reports from WSMV indicate that Groves' body was discovered outside his girlfriend's residence, shortly after he had returned from a night out at LinQ nightclub.
Groves arrived at the apartment complex on Athens Way just past 3:15 a.m., and was shot as he exited his SUV. An official statement obtained by WKRN describes the killing as a "targeted murder." Witnesses or anyone with potentially useful information have been encouraged to come forward. The assailant or assailants reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle.
The MNPD hasn't released many details about the circumstances leading up to the tragic event. However, based on findings from the investigation thus far, it's believed that Groves had spent his final hours at LinQ nightclub. Fox17 confirmed that Groves was found at approximately 7:15 a.m. on a rear patio of the apartment complex and was pronounced dead at the scene.
During this time of inquiry, the MNPD has urged the public to help in the investigation. "Anyone with information about Groves that could assist in this investigation is asked to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463," MNPD advised. According to the police department, callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward, as per WSMV.
