Newton County firefighters were recognized for their response to a crash late last month during the Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday last week.
According to a Newton County announcement, late last month, a collision occurred on Mount Zion Road involving a truck and an ambulance. Firefighters from Engines 7, 8, and 9, along with the Incident Commander, extracted three individuals trapped in the wreckage.
The victims were transported to Grady Hospital for treatment. Newton County Fire Chief Royce Turner commended the team's skill and training in handling the emergency.
