A train collided with a car on Waverly Way near Marietta Square last Saturday. According to the Marietta Police Department, the car was on the tracks as the crossing arms were lowering. The driver tried to move the vehicle forward, but the train struck the rear, causing damage, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
According to WSB-TV, no injuries were reported following the collision, but the stopped train and damaged car caused significant traffic delays on Waverly Way. A train inspector had to assess the train before it could move, temporarily halting activity in the area.
The Marietta Police Department advised the public not to walk on the tracks due to the remaining hazards and the possibility of the train resuming movement.
