Ogden's heart is set to beat with the festive pulse of its annual Christmas Village Opening Night today, as the city prepares to immerse its streets in holiday cheer with the Santa Run, the Holiday Electric Light Parade, and the ceremonial lighting.
As such, Ogden City Government took to social media to notify the public of necessary street closures designed to ensure the safety of these beloved events. In a statement, they detailed the temporary disruption: Washington Blvd. from 20th to 29th Street will be under a full closure from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The festivities are structured to light up the city sequentially, with the Santa Run igniting the evening's events at 4:30 p.m. This will be followed by a stream of illuminated floats and participants in the Holiday Electric Light Parade at 5:30 p.m. As the darkness deepens, individual and collective anticipation reaches a tipping point until the ceremony at the Ogden Amphitheater draws the crowd at 6:30 p.m., culminating in the spectacle of the fireworks and the grand illumination of the Christmas Village lights.
For those planning to partake in the holiday spirit, city officials advocate for early arrival and thorough preparation.
