A maritime collision off the coast of Miami's Nixon Beach resulted in one person being hospitalized yesterday, after two boats—a 34-foot vessel and a 35-foot vessel—crashed into each other. The incident, which took place near Fisher Island, was first reported to the U.S. Coast Guard by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office around 4:50 p.m., as per WSVN.
Following the distress call, USCG Sector Miami dispatched a Coast Guard Station Miami Beach boat crew to the scene. The responders provided first aid to the injured boater before transferring them to a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue boat, a process observed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission which, is now conducting the primary investigation into the incident.
The unidentified patient was subsequently transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics to Jackson Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
