Three seasoned researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory — Michael McGuire, Forrest Hoffman, and Vlastimil Kunc — have been named ORNL Corporate Fellows for their significant scientific achievements and mentorship. ORNL Director Stephen Streiffer stated that "Corporate Fellows epitomize ORNL’s commitment to scientific excellence and leadership," emphasizing the importance of this recognition, according to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Hoffman expanded the Integrated Computational Earth Sciences Group from eight to 19 researchers while advancing Earth system modeling, and Kunc increased the Composite Science and Technology Section from three to nearly 60 researchers through innovations in composite materials and additive manufacturing. Their contributions have elevated Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s research capacity and earned them multiple major awards.

McGuire leads the Correlated Electron Materials Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and directs materials research for the Quantum Science Center. He works with teams across U.S. institutions and has more than 340 publications. Oak Ridge National Laboratory, managed by UT-Battelle for the DOE’s Office of Science, conducts research in the physical sciences and supports studies in energy and the environment.
