The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is ringing alarm bells over a surge in phone scams where con artists pose as FBI agents or bank officials, duping victims into believing their financial security is at risk. According to a release shared by BocaNewsNow, these scammers are convincing individuals to withdraw vast sums of money or, in a terrifying twist to the saga, fork over their debit cards and PINs.

PBSO's warning underlines the stark reality - no legitimate FBI agent or bank representative would ever instruct customers to carry cash to a shadowy rendezvous or surrender sensitive banking information. In an alert obtained by WPBF, victims are advised to hang up on these fraudulent callers immediately and verify any account queries directly with their banks using their official contact details. This guidance is a bulwark against an increasingly deceptive criminal strategy that now includes direct debit card and PIN theft.

Scammers are becoming bolder, arranging in-person meetings to steal cash and exploiting personal banking information. Authorities urge the public to never send money to strangers via money orders, Zelle, gift cards, or cryptocurrency. Victims should report these calls to local law enforcement and contact their bank using the official number on the back of their card.
