Big news in Curry County's justice system today as Governor Tina Kotek named Paul “Kevin” Kelley the next District Attorney. The move plugs the gap left by Joshua Spansail's announced departure, and Kelley's set to take over the courthouse reins on November 18. His prosecutorial roots aren't just local; Kelley's experience stretches back over a decade in Washington County before joining the Curry County team back in 2019.
For those angling for a look at the county's new DA, you can find a photograph of Kelley courtesy of the Governor's official website of the State of Oregon. Kelley walked the halls of Lewis and Clark Law School before entering the fray of criminal justice, having served as a Deputy District Attorney in two different Oregon counties.
Kelley, a long-serving member of Curry County’s prosecutorial team since before 2019, has been appointed to oversee the county’s legal operations.
