A serious incident in Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood has resulted in the death of a pedestrian. On the evening of October 29, a male in a wheelchair was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast 122nd Avenue. The Portland Police Bureau reported that officers immediately responded to the scene after being alerted at around 7:40 p.m.
The victim, while crossing Northeast 122nd Avenue, sustained serious injuries from the crash and had to be rushed to the hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries several hours later at approximately 2:00 a.m. on October 30. Having stayed at the scene and cooperated with the initial investigation, the driver involved has yet to face any arrests or citations while the inquiry proceeds.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team has been notified and is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. As part of the ongoing inquiry, no further details regarding the victim’s identity have been released to the public. Police are urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward and assist in the inquiry.
