A 30-year-old Pompano Beach woman has been arrested and faces multiple charges including vehicular homicide, after being involved in a high-speed crash that resulted in a fatality. Local10 reports that Dionndra Bell, who was driving without a valid Florida driver's license, was allegedly speeding with her baby in the car just before the accident occurred.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office stated the crash took place on Oct. 18 near the 1200 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Pompano Beach. Bell is said to have lost control of her vehicle—a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander—while traveling at over double the 30 mph speed limit, resulting in her SUV colliding with another vehicle. Investigators noted that the airbag of Bell's SUV deployed at an estimated 70 mph, while Bell and her passengers, including her daughter, were not injured. The other victim from the crash suffered serious injuries and passed away nine days later due to "delayed blunt force injuries," as reported by Local10.
According to jail records posted on Broward County Mugshots, Bell has been charged with one count of vehicular homicide, multiple counts of reckless driving causing damage to person or property, driving without a valid license causing death or serious injury, and child neglect without great bodily harm. Bail set for most counts is at $0.00, with three counts of reckless driving damage person or property set at $1,000.00 each.
In her recent court appearance, following the charges, a judge ordered a total bond of $92,000 and stated, "If and when Ms. Bell bonds out, she’ll be on pretrial GPS level two," while also imposing an order of no driving. Furthermore, Bell has been directed not to apply for a passport during the pendency of her case, as reported by Local10.
