Portland’s SmartPark program has announced year-end parking discounts to attract more holiday shoppers downtown, offering new validation merchants an extra 25 two-hour coupons when they purchase at least 50. Mayor Keith Wilson emphasized the city’s focus on local businesses, saying, "The holiday season is a time for community, connection and celebration. That includes supporting the small businesses that make Portland's downtown special," according to the City of Portland.

As part of the initiative, PBOT will sponsor free parking on Small Business Saturday and on two weekends in December. Retailers can join the program by contacting SmartPark, which is also offering up to 40% off bulk purchases of 51 or more validations through December 31, as reported by the City of Portland.

Portland’s Bureau of Transportation is promoting holiday shopping and seasonal cycling events, with updates available by texting “Bike” to 888-520-0526 or visiting the bureau’s bike resource page. The City of Portland says SmartPark provides nearly 4,000 parking spaces near dining, retail, and cultural locations to support access to local businesses.
