Per San José Police Media Relations, officers responded to a fatal collision on West San Carlos, where the pedestrian was transported and later died. The department noted the involved driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

NBC Bay Area (via Bay City News) reported the crash occurred at about 1:40 AM and that West San Carlos was shut between McEvoy Street and Royal Avenue, with motorists asked to use alternate routes. The closure could ripple into the morning rush while officers gather evidence.
