Marietta residents and visitors can look forward to a special event featuring internationally recognized silhouette artist Clay Rice, who will showcase his craft at the historic William Root House on Sunday. Rice, based in Charleston, is known for his quick and detailed silhouette portraits, which have been featured in publications such as Country Living and Southern Living, according to a Marietta City announcement.
Silhouette art, popular before the invention of photography, captures a person’s profile through intricate paper cutting. Rice completes each silhouette in about a minute and has created over one million during his 40-year career. Those interested can reserve a spot at CobbLandmarks.com.
Each reservation costs $52, which includes two copies of a child’s silhouette, with additional copies available for $10 each. The event, hosted by the Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society, will be held at 80 N Marietta Parkway NW.
The Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society continues its work preserving the history and architecture of Cobb County, with programs like this aimed at connecting the community to its cultural heritage.
