A barn inferno in Richland Township decimated a local property, the Rice County Sheriff's Office reports. The blaze, which ignited on the afternoon of November 3, 2025, was attended by personnel from Rice County Sheriff’s Office and several fire departments after the property owner noticed flames billowing from a barn at 10911 Kenyon Boulevard.
Response teams were hastily dispatched after the initial report at approximately 2:03 p.m. On arrival, they were met with a barn consumed by fire. According to a statement obtained by the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Kenyon, Faribault, and Nerstrand Fire departments, alongside Northfield Area Fire & Rescue Service, worked tirelessly to not only beat back the flames but also to prevent the fire from laying claim to adjacent structures.
The fierce fire resulted in no harm to any residents, firefighters, or bystanders. However, the tragedy did not pass without loss, as two livestock animals were reported missing and are believed to have perished. A neighboring outbuilding, along with the barn and its contents, was deemed irrecoverable losses.
Early investigations have yielded no hints of foul play. "Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available," Sgt. R. Spicer of the Rice County Sheriff’s Office indicated. Local departments remind citizens of the importance of fire safety and preparedness, especially in rural areas where such blazes can quickly grow to be unwieldy.
