Trailblazing news for outdoor enthusiasts in Salt Lake County, as the County Council has approved a major land purchase to close a significant gap in the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. This $180,000 acquisition aims to bolster the connectivity of the trail system and Franklin the recreational areas available to the public along the eastern stretches of the county.
According to Salt Lake County, the new parcel spans 60 acres at 3085 East Sherwood Drive, situated just south of the mouth of Emigration Canyon. The decision supports a long-term vision for a continuous trail experience that has been a community goal since the 1990s. Mayor Jenny Wilson expressed her sentiment on the matter, "The goal of a complete and connected Bonneville Shoreline Trail has been a longstanding priority since I first began service to Salt Lake County," as per Salt Lake County.
