The San Jose Police Department reported the arrest of suspect Orlando Rivero, a 27-year-old resident of San Jose, for allegedly assaulting a food vendor's truck with his vehicle. The incident took place on August 18, when officers were called to the 2900 block of Monterey Road following a report that a white Ford pickup truck had repeatedly slammed into the parked food vendor vehicle. Despite the violent nature of the assault, the three employees inside managed to escape unharmed, per the San José Police Department.
The assault left the food truck considerably damaged, with repair costs estimated at around $10,000. Rivero evaded initial capture, fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived. However, the pursuit for justice persisted, as San José Police Department Assault Unit Detectives spearheaded a thorough investigation, which included surveillance footage of the event captured on video and available on the department's YouTube channel.
Following an investigation, Rivero's identity was revealed as the main suspect, prompting authorities to secure a warrant for his arrest. Last Thursday, the Special Operations Metro Unit successfully located and apprehended Rivero. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, facing charges including assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
