The San Mateo Police Department made an arrest on Thursday after a narcotics investigation at a local gas station. The incident occurred on the 1900 block of South Delaware Street, where an officer contacted two men at approximately 11:53 PM at the Arco Gas Station. According to a social media post by the San Mateo Police Department, one of the individuals, Darren Stuart, a 64-year-old San Mateo resident, was found in possession of a substance later identified as methamphetamine.
The contact led to a search of Stuart, during which an orange prescription bottle was discovered. Inside the bottle was a plastic bag containing a crystalline substance, which preliminarily tested positive for methamphetamine. Officers also uncovered two glass smoking pipes, one in Stuart’s pants pocket and another inside the center console of his vehicle, both with burned residue. The record's check revealed that this was not Stuart's first brush with the law; the man had two prior convictions for drug possession.
Stuart was arrested and subsequently booked into the San Mateo County Jail, facing several charges, including possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia. The official charges listed in the San Mateo Police Department's post are 11395(B)(1) HS, 11377(A), and 11364(A).
